Course/Module description:
In this class, we read legal opinions by Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, one of the prominent muftis in the contemporary Islamic world. These opinions deal with the Islamic attitude towards non-Muslims in general and Zionism and the State of Israel in particular.
Course/Module aims:
1. to analyze the juristic attitude of Shaykh Qaradawi towards non-Muslims, Zionism and Israel.
2. to prepare the students for an independent historical work that makes use of Islamic legal texts in Arabic.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
