Course/Module description:
The course is divided into two main parts: The first part is devoted to Phonetics, the second part is an introduction to the phonological classification and behavior of sounds, including natural classes, distinctive features, and morpho-phonemic alternations.
Course/Module aims:
The course provides basic theoretical background and practical tools for phonological analysis, based on data mainly from Hebrew and English, and in some cases from other languages as well.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Analyse basic phonological processes, on the basis of phonetic analysis and phonological rules.

(3) Submission of assignments (2 assignments throughout the semester, 10% of grade each)

RULES and REGULATIONS
(1) All assignments must be submitted on time.
(2) An unsubmitted assignment will be graded 0% (zero percent).
(3) Any piece of work which is not deemed to be the product of independent work will be graded 0% and dealt with according to HUJI regulations. In other words, don’t copy!
(4) Students must attend lectures.
FINAL GRADE
A final grade will only be given to students who fulfill all the course requirements and comply with all the course regulations. The grade will be calculated as follows:
(1) Course assignments – 20%: All assignments – including zeros – will be taken into account.
(2) Exam – 80%
