Course/Module description:
This course will expand knowledge of consciousness in rehabilitation including theoretical models, basic systems of awareness, it's impact on function, rehabilitation and intervention

Course/Module aims:
• Introduction for issues of awareness in neuro-rehabilitation: expanding knowledge of concepts, theory, and intervention methods
• Developing critical reading skills of relevant literature for the rehabilitation of individuals with awareness deficits
• Introduction to evidence based research

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
• Describe theoretic models of awareness
• Distinguish between different systems of lack of awareness according to clinical states
• Discuss current evidence based research
• Locate, organize and analyse evidence based research for assessment and intervention
• Apply clinical reasoning and principles for intervention for unawareness in individuals

• The impact of poor awareness in the rehabilitation process
• Systems theory for awareness deficits
• Assessment of awareness deficits
• Intervention for awareness deficits
• Selected issues of awareness in relation to health
