Course/Module description:
The course focuses on academic writing and the basic knowledge required, e.g., literature search, understanding the anatomy of articles, reviewing scientific papers, and the 'art' of scientific writing.

Course/Module aims:
1.Teach skills for searching database-engines.
2.Teach skills for critically reviewing scientific literature.
3.To understand the uniqueness of scientific writing vs. writing in other genres.
4.Teach skills for writing a paper or research proposals using academic writing rules.
5.Teach skills for creating PP presentations.
6.Teach skill for presenting to an audience.




Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1.Effectively search for material required for writing a paper.
2.Effectively organize the materials found for writing a paper.
3.Critically review a scientific papers.
4.Formulate a research question or purpose.
5.Write a research proposal or project plan, including all necessary parts, according to the APA rules).
6.Orally present a topic in a clear and logical manner, using a presentation (Power Point) and without reading.

Course/Module Content:
1.Executive functions in the writing process.
2.Types of information sources for writing papers.
3.Searching for sources of information and methods for organizing the material.
4.The anatomy of theoretical and research articles.
5.Critically reviewing articles and methods for extracting material from the articles.
6.The anatomy of research /project papers and proposals.
7.Formulating the research/project purpose, questions and/or hypotheses.
8.The writing process — determining the outline (the ideas), integration of information from various sources (academic and research).
9.Scientific writing according to APA rules.
10.The editing process.
11.Oral presentations using PP presentation.
