Course/Module description:
In this course, students with learn and experience how to direct attention in a non-judgmental manner. Research shows the clear relationship between mindfulness and awareness in “real time”, creative thinking, non-judgmental attention, empathy, satisfaction, management skills and reducing stress. In the course, students will be exposed to a range of tool necessary for listening and being, and will be given opportunities to practice these skills. Through practicing these skills, students will develop their professional and personal identity therefore promoting the client therapist interaction.

Course/Module aims:
• Practice the “language” of mindfulness in the “here and now’”
• Identify the effect of practice on personal development
• Experience body listening as a tool to support quality of life, holistic management and understand the client
• Students will understand the importance of being responsible for personal and professional development
• Exposure to concepts of BEING and DOING

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Identify mindfulness tools and use the method in a variety of situations
- Meet a range of automatic patterns of response in order to select appropriate choices of response
- Display skills of non-judgmental interactions for the client therapist relationship

Experiential learning of reflection, awareness of the self in therapeutic interactions, theoretic learning of mindfulness and techniques for mindfulness
