Course/Module description:
This course is presented as a workshop, integrating theoretical learning with practice and experience. The course includes lectures, readings, and class discussions alongside personal experience and art groups. The practical aspects require an open minded approach and willingness to work creatively with different textiles as means to develop awareness of intra- and inter-personal processes.
Course/Module aims:
1. To teach foundation concepts of art therapy, and introduce different theories and applications of therapy
2. To expose students to the therapeutic value of using different materials in personal experiences
3. To instill basic knowledge in the use of different materials for therapeutic goals, develop means of analysis, observation and awareness
4. To introduce students to the development of drawing from childhood to adolescence with initial assessment measures
5. To assist students to develop a therapeutic identity, promote personal awareness, thinking and creativity
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
