Course/Module description:
Ergonomics deals with the interactions of a person with his environment in order to design a suitable work space

Course/Module aims:
To provide basic knowledge and tools in the field of ergonomics across the lifespan with a focus on the role of the occupational therapist

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Define foundation concepts of ergonomics: work space, risk factors, prevention
2. Identify risk factors in the work space
3. Investigate workers in their work space
4. Collect and compile data in comprehensive manner of the worker in their work space
5. Correct working space
6. Plan a suitable work space
7. Identify tools to reduce risk factors
8. Practice analysis and adaptation of the work space

Attendance requirements(%):
80%

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Lectures, case studies, individual learning, assessment

-Historical development of ergonomics
- Foundation concepts in ergonomics: work space, risk factors, prevention
- The role of the occupational therapist
- Identification of risk factors in the work space
- Considerations in planning a work space and designing work stations
