Course/Module description:
An introduction to public mental health, the organization of mental health services and mental health-related human rights.

Course/Module aims:
Acquiring an understanding of community mental health - focusing on severe mental illness, the association between socio-economic status and psychopathology, association between health (medicine) and mental health (psychiatry)

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
• To learn of the burden of mental disorders
• To learn about the link between medical and psychiatric conditions.
• To acquire basic information about mental health care, stigma and barriers to care.
• Understanding and explaining the role of human rights in public mental health
