Course/Module description:
This course is intended for students with formal background in epidemiology, public health and statistics, and it deals with key issues in human and environmental health.

Course/Module aims:
Providing scientific knowledge and insights in the course's areas of study; Increasing awareness and encouraging solution-oriented systemic thinking in dealing with key environmental-health challenges.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1.Get to know and understand key concepts and issues in health and the environment as taught in the course.
2.Understand the importance of the field and leverage the knowledge learned to deal with environmental-health challenges in relevant circles of influence in a solution-oriented manner.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Frontal lectures; materials and study aids on the course website in Moodle.

1. Environmental and human health, planetary health/sustainability.
2. Environmental epidemiology.
3. Environmental toxicology; endocrine disruptors, pesticides, heavy metals.
4. Ambient and indoor- air pollution.
5. Water, soil, waste pollution.
6. Plastic pollution – micro-/nano-/plastic additives.
7. Ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
8. Occupational health.
9. The built environment/urban environment.
10. From science to policy.
11. Climate change and health.
12. Sustainability in health systems.
