Course/Module description:
The course introduces students to the principles and practice of infection control required in dentistry

Course/Module aims:
To teach the theoretical and practical aspects of infection control in dentistry

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Identify the relevant pathogens in the dental clinic and their transmission routes
2. Demonstrate the practice of primary prevention of dental infections and of secondary prevention (after exposure)
3. Be familiar with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Hadassah and the School, in the field of prevention of infection

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: An online course, successful completion of an educational software, and a hands-on workshop

1. Occupational exposure to infections in the dental clinic
2. Principles in preventing the transmission of infections
3. Bacterial, viral and other pathogens
4. Disinfection and sterilization in the dental clinic
5. Treatment to the water supplied to the dental clinic
6. Hand hygiene
7. Vaccines
8. Post-exposure protocol
9. Dental care for immunocompromised patients
10. Dental care in the corona era
11. Guidelines: Ministry of Health, Hadassah Medical Center, and School of Dental Medicine
