Course/Module description:
The curriculum in the 4th year is comprised of frontal lectures and exercises in small groups, aimed to demonstrate and practice subjects discussed in the frontal lectures. Main topics taught in this year: etiology of malocclusion, theories and biology of tooth movement. malformations and clefts, facial and space assessment, removable appliances, space maintaining, anchorage, retention

Course/Module aims:
Acquaintance and understanding of etiology of malocclusion,biology of orthodontic forces and tissue response to orthodontic tooth movement.
Acquaintance and understanding of removable and fixed appliances including their design. Knowledge of the various malocclusions including treatment methods. Space evaluation and space saving.
Theoretical learning of the course content and implementation of facial and space assessment

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

•Distinguish between early signs of malocclusion and normal development.
•Describe and explain theories of general and local factors of malocclusion.
•Describe and explain theories of the biology of orthodontic forces and tissue response to orthodontic tooth movement.
• Perform space and facial evaluation
• Plan removable appliances and •understand the use of fixed appliances
• Use diagnostic aids
