Course/Module description:
A primary clinical course. This is the first clinical course in dental school. The students are learning how to remove caries and prepared teeth for restoration by amalgam or composite materials.
Course/Module aims:
1. Understanding the principles of cavity preparation.
2. The student will learn the basic manual skills for preparing a tooth for its restoration.
3.The student will learn the tools and techniques of restoring teeth with amalgam an composite.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Explain the rational of the principles of cavity preparations.
2. Apply the principles to various types of cavities.
3. Recognize restorative materials properties and implement them clinically.
4. Recognize dentin and pulp protective materials and implement their clinical use.
