Course/Module description:
The course will be delivered through frontal lectures, clinical presentations and workshops.
The course consists of two teaching units, each teaching unit concerns pharmacological treatment in a different group of diseases:
1. Diseases of the respiratory tract
2. Diseases of the cardiovascular system
At the same time, the course will acquire the student the knowledge related to the pharmacological treatment of the above diseases, with an emphasis on understanding the mechanisms of action of the drugs and the clinical basis in their choice.
Each teaching unit will be accompanied by a clinical presentation and/or workshop dealing with the pharmacological treatment of the patient who comes to the dental clinic.
Course/Module aims:
1. Formulate insights in pharmacological processes related to the treatment of a patient suffering from any disease.
2. Indicate the mechanisms of the drugs and the site of their activity.
3. Understand the complexity of pharmacological treatment of the sick person.
4. Translate the study topics to understand the treatment of the patient coming to the dental clinic.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Understand the morphological changes at the cell, tissue and organ level, in response to diseases related to the activity of the respiratory system and cardiovascular system.
2. Familiarize yourself with pathological mechanisms and processes that mediate damage to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
3. Observe the relationship between the structural changes in the organ and its dysfunction.
4. Understand the clinical manifestations of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and provide the basis for clinical understanding and treatment.
5. Understand the relationship between the mechanism of action of a drug and its use in a wide range of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
6. Observe various clinical conditions and the ways of treating them pharmacologically.
7. Learn to decipher clinical cases and construct relevant treatment plans.

80% in lectures; 100% in clinical presentations and workshops
