Course/Module description:
course in Ophthalmology, given to fifth year medical students.
Taught at the three branched campuses.
clerkship is two weeks long.
Course/Module aims:
To teach basic ophthalmology at a level required by every MD.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Learn the terms used in ophthalmology
Recognize and identify the common disorders in the various disciplines in ophthalmology (see details in the list of topics)
Identify medical emergencies in ophthalmology
Get to know the therapeutic modalities offered for the various eye disorders
Will be exposed to the ophthalmology ward, in both clinical and research aspects

90% - test
students are required to complete and report assignments during the clerkship including participation in clinics, OR and ER. Students performing the tasks successfully will receive a 10 point bonus to the course grade. Note all students must pass the final exam at the end of the clerkship.
students are allowed to miss one day of teaching, only after receiving permission by the group tutor.
