Course/Module description:
The module is designed to prepare the student for the clinical years. It is an overview of the major endocrine diseases, including diabetes and diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary glands.
Course/Module aims:
Overview of major endocrine pathologies
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Explain the pathologic processes that lead to the major endocrine diseases
2. List the major signs and symptoms associated with endocrine disease and understand the pathologic processes that lead to these symptoms.
3. List the major treatment options and explain the mechanisms of action of various treatment options for major endocrine diseases.
