Course/Module description:
This course that will be unique in seeking to train students in the art of viewing the health system through the prism of the inter-relationships of its different organizational levels.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

Both theoretical and case study material, drawing on different disciplines – law, management, political science, sociology, economics and development economics, epidemiology, and international consulting -will be explored, critiqued and used to consider specific policy decisions

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: The course will consist of presentations by the lecturer aimed at inducing class discussion around conducting policy analysis in comparative perspective. The class sessions will also include student presentations on their home health systems leading to a written policy analysis of a major issue arising in the context of health care policy and management in those systems, bringing to bear the tools of comparative analysis highlighted in the course.

Course/Module Content:
Both theoretical and case study material, drawing on different disciplines – law, management, political science, sociology, economics and development economics, epidemiology, and international consulting -will be explored, critiqued and used to consider specific policy decisions confronting, mainly but not only, health care systems from which they come or that interest them.
