Course/Module description:
The course will deal with health promotion and disease prevention throughout a woman's lifespan. Physiological, mental, familial, cultural and social aspects will be emphasized, with a focus on the childbearing years.

Course/Module aims:
To allow the student to integrate knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention throughout a woman's lifespan, based on the nursing process, tools of nursing assessment, clinical guidelines and gold standards of care, nursing scope of practice, and evidence-based nursing practice.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
At the end of the course the students will know how to identify and describe:
1. The normal and pathological processes of: pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.
2. Comprehensive treatment of women and men with fertility problems.
3. Anatomical and physiological defects, benign and malignant tumors of the female reproductive system.
4. Risk factors for diseases in the female reproductive system and preventative treatments.
5. Physiology of menopause and beyond: assessment and treatment.
6. Unique approaches to health promotion of women.

Attendance requirements(%):
Mandatory attendance at all lectures (see section 6.2 of the University Regulations).


Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: 1. Mandatory reading according to the detailed course schedule. A list of books and protocols appears in this syllabus. This reading material will be included in all course work and the final exam.

3. Mandatory attendance at classes – both frontal lectures and ZOOM meetings (see section 6.2 of the University Regulations). In ZOOM sessions, each student must have an open camera and be active in class.

Course/Module Content:
Pregnancy: Sexuality, pre-malignant and malignant growths; genital tract infections (including sexually transmitted diseases); pelvic floor symptoms; fertility problems; diagnosis, adjustment, cooperation, and promotion of patient and family health; physical, mental and social adjustment to pregnancy; birth: The experience of the woman and the family in physiological labor and birth; post partum: adaptation during the postpartum period for the woman and her family in the hospital, at home and in the community; pathological childbirth; various diseases in pregnancy; menopause; old age; and more.

Additional information:
Calculation of the final grade:
a. Quiz 1 - 15%

Topics on the quiz include: Normal menstrual cycle, Abnormalities in the menstrual cycle (including abnormal uterine bleeding, not including endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome), the gynecological exam, and family planning and contraception.

b. Quiz 2 - 15%

Topics on the quiz include: Cysts and polyps in the female reproductive system, cancers of the female reproductive system, infections in pregnancy, and infections of the female reproductive system.

Passing grade:

a. Quizzes: There is no requirement to pass the quizzes. There is no Moed Bet for quizzes. In accordance with university policy, a special Moed will be offered if a student has a special circumstance. Without a special circumstance, the student will receive a 0 if s/he does not take the quiz at the indicated time.

b. Exam - the student must pass the final exam with a grade of 60.

c. A student that fails the exam (both Moed Aleph and Bet) will fail the course
