Course/Module description:
The course designed to develop a professional attitude and to provide a knowledge on patients suffering from sensory perception disturbances associated with injury of the skin, eyes, nose ear and throat.
The course will emphasize a holistic approach and psycho-social aspects, related to resolving problems &/or issues regarding various stages in health and illness at different levels of complexity.

Course/Module aims:
Inculcate knowledge and tools to plan an overall nursing treatment for patients and their families suffering from disturbances of the senses and of systems/organs in the skin, eyes, nose ear and throat.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
At the end of the course the students will be able to:
• To assess the sensory system in acomprehensive manner. To formulate diagnostic diagnoses related to the situations studied.
• Plan nursing intervention while implementing critical thinking and decision-making to promote patient health, while sharing the patient, family, and inter-professional staff.
• To manage client-centered nursing care, while demonstrating leadership and nursing responsibility.
• Empower the patient while maintaining professional ethics.

Eyes:

Anatomy of the eye
The functions of the eye are a continuum of health and disease
Diagnostic tests in the field of ophthalmology
Knowledge of systemic eye diseases
Dysfunction of the visual system in the life cycle Knowledge, prevention, early detection and quality assurance of treatment
Eye diseases in old age - maintaining health and preventing complications
Visual system dysfunction due to infections
Eye trauma
Eye care - training and promoting the health of the patient and his family
The blind man's and his family's coping with disability


ENT:

Anatomy of the ENT system
Diseases represent in the ENT system a continuum of health and disease
Disorders in the audio system
Hearing loss + Vertigo
Disorders of the nose and sinuses
Dysfunction of the pharynx and throat
Ear, Nose and Throat Nursing - health maintenance training and prevention of complications

Anatomy and physiology of the skin
The physical examination of the skin is a healthy and sick sequence
Vesicular diseases
Diagnostic tests of skin diseases
Medicinal and non-medicinal treatment of various skin diseases
