Course/Module description:
The course focuses on managing the treatment of patients suffering from disorders of the urinary system. During the course, emphasis will be placed on the nursing process at the various stages of the life cycle and on developing critical thinking and empowering the patient. We will also engage in the construction of a nursing care plan for the short and long term, based on the principles of patient and family participation in the treatment process.

Course/Module aims:
The purpose of the course is to provide students with comprehensive knowledge about the causes of diseases of the kidney and urinary system, the effect of these diseases on the rest of the body's systems, as well as the methods of diagnosis and treatment. Emphasis will be placed on nursing aspects in managing the treatment of patients suffering from these disorders, including support in the coping process of the patients and their family members.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Identify deviations from normal health in patients suffering from disorders of the urinary system, focusing on etiological, pathophysiological, psychosocial and ethical aspects.
2. To analyze the physical, mental and social consequences of diseases and their associated treatments, as well as the coping of the patient and his family, with an emphasis on empowering the patient.
3. Build an evidence-based nursing care plan for relevant diagnoses in the field.
4. Adapt a health promotion program at the various levels of prevention to the target population, while involving the patient and his family members in the decision-making process.

1. Evaluation and diagnosis of kidney and urinary system diseases.
2. Treatment of patients with urinary disorders (urology)
3. Treatment of patients with kidney dysfunction (nephrology)
4. Nursing a patient undergoing dialysis
5. Treatment of the patient undergoing kidney transplantation

Grading Scheme :
Written / Oral / Practical Exam / Home Exam 90 %
Submission assignments during the semester: Exercises / Essays / Audits / Reports / Forum / Simulation / others 10 %

Additional information:
A passing grade in the course is mandatory 1. A passing grade (60) in the exam 2. Also a passing grade (60) in the final refinement of all grade components in the course.
