Course/Module description:
The course inculcates knowledge and acquisition of skills in providing the nursing needs of individuals of various ages during hospitalization. It develops an overall approach to the patient as an individual connected to the family and community.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
At the end of the course the student will be able to apply the knowledge and skills in the following subjects according to the nursing procedure (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation).
1. Vital signs. State of consciousness
2. Oxidation. Principles, ways to administer oxygen, respiratory physical therapy, aspiration of upper and deeper respiratory tracts, treatment of tracheostomy.
3. Medication administration. Principles and different methods of medication administration.
4. Fluid balance and electrolytes. Principles, assessment, basic balance, intravenous administration of fluids and electrolytes, insertion of IV, blood drawing.
5. Blood transfusion of various types and complications of blood transfusion.
6. Excretions. Urinary system: insertion of catheter.
7. Patient undergoing surgical intervention. Principles of pre-surgery treatment, treatment during surgery and post-surgery treatment.
8. Death and mortality
9. Instruction of patients
10. Basic treatment of the child and neonate

Procedure for monitoring the use of dangerous drugs
Procedure for handling the deceased
Procedure for handling constipation
Procedure for insertion of catheter to urinary tracts
Procedure for inserting a feeding tube to the stomach
of a conscious patient
Procedure for transfusion of blood and its components
Procedure for administering intravenous fluids and
regular system treatment
Procedure for inserting an IV and daily treatment with
vein line
Procedure for treating a diabetes patient and Insulin
administration
Procedure for administering medications OTC
Procedure for the management of medication treatment
Prevention and treatment of pressure sores
Pain assessment
Nursing procedures

Gastrostom insertion
