Course/Module description:
The course focuses on basic theoretical concepts and research methods in psychology. It presents the different sub-areas of the field, as well as the different approaches to the investigation of psychological phenomena. We discuss the work of the most important experimenters, theoreticians and theoretical schools in the area of perception, learning, memory, motivation, emotion, personality, social psychology, stress, psychopathology and methods of treatment.

Course/Module aims:
1. To provide a basic understanding of how experimental and theoretical psychologists think about and study human behavior.
2. To understand, compare and apply multiple psychological perspectives.
3. To discuss, define and apply concepts from different research areas of psychology.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate broad knowledge of the field of psychology.
2. Understand the different theoretical approaches in psychology.
3. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods.
4. Critically read articles about psychological theory and research.
5. Apply psychological insights to the understanding of the hospitalized patient.
