Course/Module description:
The course is composed of two major subjects, one in each semester: the basic principles of operational medicine and the principles of military medical leadership

Course/Module aims:
1. To introduce the students to the basic principles of operational medicine.
2. To introduce the principals of leadership relevant to military physicians

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. To understand the principles of operational medicine
2. To acquire tools for personal leadership

Semester 1
1. Introduction to operational medicine
2. The physiological basis of trauma
3. The approach to the individual injured soldier
4. Principles of medical monitoring
5. Post- traumatic stress disease (PTSD)
6. medical treatment in isolated settings
7. Evacuation by air and sea
8. Introduction to military forensic medicine
9. Blast Injuries
10. Introduction to head injuries
11. Principles of pre-hospital treatment
12. Judicious use of blood products: resources and needs
13. Research in operational medicine
14. The story of a wounded soldier
Semester 2
1. Introduction to leadership
2. Medical leadership
3. Military leadership
4. Military leadership: Medical leadership in routine circumstances
5. Military leadership: Medical leadership during emergency times
6. Motivations for team leading
7. Outdoor workshop
8. Lessons in leadership from selected events

Additional information:
a written examination will take place in the end of 1st semester, a paper should be handed at the end of 2nd semester. each one weighs 50% of final grade
