Course/Module description:
Advanced immunology course introducing the development, structure, molecular and cellular function of the innate and adaptive immune system under normal and pathological conditions as: cancer, infectious, autoimmune, metabolic and inflammatory diseases.

Course/Module aims:
To provide the students with the basic and advanced acquaintance of the immune system, and present to them its significance under healthy and pathological conditions.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Understand immunological publications, evaluate their significance, dissect and explain the described data and raise new ideas for the studies’ continuation.

Attendance requirements(%):
Participating in this meeting is not obligatory but full attendance will have a major impact on the understanding of the taught material.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Lecture

Course/Module Content:
The innate and adaptive immune systems; their development, structure and function under normal/healthy conditions and pathological disorders as: cancer, inborn and acquired immunodeficiencies, infectious, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases as well as allergy.

Chapters in Janeways’ Immunobiology book, which are relevant to the subjects presented in the class.
