Course/Module description:
Animal welfare, focus on farm animals. Common problems, welfare assessment and husbandry solutions, in a variety of fields (poultry, cattle, sheep, pigs and fisheries). Dilemmas and constraints in animal transport, slaughter and mutilations. The link between animal welfare, health and economy. Animal welfare in the easy of the law, ethics and philosophy

Course/Module aims:
To focus on farm animals and animal welfare. To understand common problems, welfare assessment and husbandry solutions, in a variety of fields (poultry, cattle, sheep, pigs and fisheries). Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Familiar with legislation on animal welfare
Describe what is happening with respect to welfare of farm animals
Recognize the constraints of the agricultural economy
