Course/Module description:
The definite integral; Indefinite integral; The fundamental theorem of the
integral calculus; Integration methods; Multivariable functions; Contour Lines; Extremum of functions without and with constrains; Homogeneous functions and Euler theorem.
Course/Module aims:
To introduce the definite and indefinite integral; To present the multivariable function; To define contour lines, partial derivatives and differentials. To solve optimization problems with and without constrains; To define homogenous functions .
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Calculate integrals of single variable functions; Calculate partial derivatives using the chain rule; Calculate differentials and the derivative of implicit functions; Find the optimal value of a multivariable function with and without constrains; Recognize a homogeneous function and it's properties.
