Course/Module description:
The physiology and ecology of ectomycorrhiza

Course/Module aims:
To provide and deep and wide point of view of ectomycorrhizal fungi and their interaction with trees

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To understand the phosphate and carbon flow between trees and mycorrhiza

To understand the mycorrhizal network in the forest
To get hands on experience in identifying fungi in the forest

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Lectures, field trip and lab

What are fungi?
Tree-mycorrhiza interactions from carbon point of view
Tree-mycorrhiza interactions from phosphate and nitrogen points of view
The ecology of mycorrhiza, competition and sharing
Hands on mycorrhiza
