Course/Module description:
The course will survey the various connections between early rabbinic literature and the new testament, taking into consideration the complexity of each of the corpora and the transmission of the traditions. We will examine the nature of the halakhic discourse, reflected in these sources, and we will describe the polemic between the group. The course will expose the students to Pauline ideas and consider possible rabbinic responses to them.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Characterize the shared foundation of rabbinic and Christian traditions.
2. Identify textual processes that shaped these traditions within each corpus and new ideology.
3. Discuss the significance of the dialogue between the texts for the shaping of early Judaism and Christianity.
