Course/Module description:
Major geologic issues in evolution of central Israel using outcrop windows studied in the field. Geoarchaeology of Israel will be discussed at selected sites in the Jordan valley

Course/Module aims:
Understand important geologic sections as a window to the geologic evolution of central Israel. Understand human and geology interface alongthe Quaternary

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Analyze major outcrops and their sedimentary, structural volcanic and geomorphic significance to the evolution of central Israel. Basic geoarchaeology expertise

Attendance requirements(%):
100% field trip, 50 % lectures

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: 3 days field trip + pre- and post-lectures

Course/Module Content:
main geologic sections of Samaria. Major tectonic sedimentary and geoarchaeology features. Structure association with the Syrian Arc, transversal faults and the Dead Sea Rift. Evolution and geomorphology of the Jordan valley, and the antropogenic role.
