Course/Module description:
A seminar where students will present the most recent research on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Including security of the currency, theoretical models for its operation, consensus, cryptographic primitives.

Course/Module aims:
To deeply understand the Bitcoin protocol, the innovation that it offers, its theoretical underpinnings, and the challenges that the system faces.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
to understand how Bitcoin works and how related systems operate

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Lectures given by the teacher and the students

Bitcoin mining, security, mining pools, double spending, proof of work, privacy and mixing, 2.0 protocols, p2p overlay network, incentives in Bitcoin
