Course/Module description:
Ways of promoting animal welfare in the food producing industry. The veterinarians job and the tools that are available to him.

Course/Module aims:
Basic concepts in the field of animal welfare.
Tools to assess animal welfare.
Understanding the challenges at different phases of growth of livestock.
Methods to reduce suffering and promote animal welfare.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1.Recognise potential factors that can compromise the welfare of animals.
2.Use different methods to assess animal welfare on farm.
3.Reduce suffering and promote animal welfare in the farm, during transport and at the slaughterhouse.
