Course/Module description:
The Chemical and Biological basis of drug actions and the main methods for discovery and design of drugs. Understanding the structures and properties of drug molecules and their interactions with biological "targets" to help alleviate disease

Course/Module aims:
Understanding of the basics of "medicinal chemistry" - in particular the drug development which requires chemical appreciation of the binding between atoms and molecules and the relevance to the drugs' effects on biological systems

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
An ability to read articles dealing with drug action, in popular science magazines and journals
