Course/Module description:
Iמtimes of crisis- such as a security crisis due to terrorists attacks or a perceived threat due to a moral panic - there is a tendency to turn to the criminal law. New criminal Bills are being proposed, punishments are aggravated, and the case law might deviate from general principles of criminal liability in order to cope with the crisis.

Course/Module aims:
To identify the crisis that originated a response through the criminal justice system and to evaluate those responses.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To identify crisis that the criminal justice system responses to.
To analyse the criminal justice systems to crisis.
The critically evaluate new Bills
To evaluate punsihment

II. Social Trauma - The reaction to the assassination of Prime Minster Rabin: Criminal Bans on Speech
III. Reactions to Terror - Torture
IV. Political Environment - Conscientious Objection
V. Burglary as a "National Disaster" - The Special Defense on Homes and Farms
VI. Political Corruption - the offence of Breach of Trust
