Course/Module description:
Advanced theories in criminology apply critical ways of thinking and researching, offering new ways to understand crime and law enforcement.
The course will cover different theories and currant trends including:
The conflict theory.
Marxism.
Postmodern theory.
The feministic approach to women offenders.
Victimology.
Crime in a postcolonial era.
Law enforcement and ethnicity.
Therapeutic jurisprudence.
Abolitionism.

Course/Module aims:
To expose students to critical analysis of crime, law enforcement and law.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. To read critical texts.
2. To understand the connection between power relations and crime through a critical outlook.
3. To critically analyze law and punishment.
