Course/Module description:
This workshop is intended for excellent BA students in their third year. The workshop would include getting to know the faculty, MA and PhD students at the Institute of Criminology and their scientific work, gaining experience in research, tours in criminal justice agencies and training in specific skills required for academic work. Additionally, the workshop will include working with a faculty member for a limited no. of hours on her research. The workshop would take place once every two weeks. Tours may take place on different days of the week.
Course/Module aims:
The purpose of the workshop is to expose excellent students to the "behind the scenes" of scientific work at the Institute of Criminology, which would encourage them to continue the in the academic direction.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Describe the activities of criminal justice agencies "in the real world"
- Identify the skills required to carry out scientific research
- Identify the characteristics of academic work at the Institute of Criminology
- Evaluate different kinds of studies taking place at the Institute of Criminology
- Plan future directions for academic research
