Course/Module description:
The course deals with theories, challenges, approaches, issues, case studies, legal framework, and trends of modern government regulation of markets and industries in the economy, and in particular of corporations and other private organizations, in Israel and around the world.
Course/Module aims:
Introduce students to theories, challenges, approaches, issues, legal aspects, case studies and current trends of administrative regulation.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Analyse regulatory arrangements from a critical perspective that relies on accepted theories of regulation, such as public choice
2. Offer regulatory solutions for markets or industrys, or for specific corporations or particular problems or failures, based on a mix of approaches and methods
3. Evaluate regulatory arrangements using tools such as RIA and prepare regulatory impact assessment reports
4. Be familiar with the legal framework applicable to regulation and regulators, such as administrative and constitutional law, the law of regulation and the laws governing the practice of revolving doors
5. Apply the lessons and experience gained from the supervision in various areas (such as communications, energy and environment, capital market and food retail) on the regulation of new situations and for improving existing regulatory schemes

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction:
On-campus lectures based on presentations and class discussion. The lectures may be conducted in an online format in parallel with, or in place of, physical lectures on campus, depending on the Corona guidelines that will be in effect during the semester. Updates on the subject will be provided prior to and during the semester if applicable.
