תאור כללי של הקורס:
בקורס זה נחקור את התופעה החברתית, התרבותית והפוליטית של מצב "החירום" ונדון במנגנוני מדיניות שונים להיערכות ולהתמודדות עם מצבי חירום ועם אי וודאות עתידית. בקורס נמפה באופן אנליטי מושגים שונים באמצעותם מדינות וחברות ממשיגות מצבי חירום, כגון: משבר, אסון, חירום, מלחמה ומגיפה. נלמד תיאוריות ביקורתיות (סוציולוגיות ואנתרופולוגיות) של חירום וננתח תכניות מדיניות של היערכות למצבי חירום בתחומים שונים, כגון: ביטחון, בריאות וסביבה.

בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
- לדון במנגנוני מדיניות להיערכות ולהתמודדות עם מצבי חירום ואי וודאות עתידית.
- להבחין בין המשגות שונות למצבי חירום ומשמעותם.
- לחקור ולנתח חומרים בעזרת תיאוריות ביקורתיות של חירום.
