Course/Module description:
This course is designed for research graduate students beginning their academic research. It assumes students already have knowldege in IR theory. The first part of the course focuses on oreintation of the IR field and a brief review of the basics of writing reearch proposals. It then dedicates a few weeks for the analysis of empirical articles in various issue-areas. Finally, students present research proposals in the second part of the course.

Course/Module aims:
Understanding and formulating standards of quality research in International Relations, regardless of the specific research method, theoretical approach, or field of study; familiarity with the structure of an academic article, the writing process, and the publication process; developing and writing a proposal of empirical research in the field of international relations.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Ability to identify the fundamentals of high-quality research, and reading and analysis of articles on various subjects, which apply various research method. Writing a a doable research proposal.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: The course is organized as an open discussion in which students demonstrate knowledge of and evaluate the reading material. Each session begins with short presentations of the students, followed by class discussion of weekly readings.
