תאור כללי של הקורס:
הז'אנר הספרותי של המדע הבדיוני (מד"ב) יכול לשמש כמראה עתידנית לביקורת ההווה. מאז המאה ה-19, סופרי מד"ב עוסקים בהיבטים שונים של ביקורת חברתית ופוליטית תוך שימוש בספרות פנטסטית, "ספקולטיבית", ועתידנית. קורס זה מציג בפני התלמידים את התחום של מדע בדיוני על ידי דיון בכמה סוגות-משנה מרכזיות בז'אנר, כמו למשל אוטופיה-דיסטופיה, היסטוריה חלופית, מפגש עם ציביליזציות זרות, טכנולוגיה ופוליטיקה, ועוד. ננסה לעמוד על ההיבטים הפוליטיים המצויים במד"ב ונשאל כיצד ניתן להאיר ולהבין באמצעותו אספקטים וכיוונים בפוליטיקה העכשווית, "המציאותית". לצורך כך נתמקד בכמה יצירות מד"ב, הן כתובות והן מוסרטות. נתהה על כוחה והשפעתה של ביקורת חברתית ופוליטית כזו, ונראה כיצד ניתן ללמוד על תקופות היסטוריות שונות על פי המד"ב שנכתב במהלכן. מטרת הקורס היא לא בהכרח לספק תשובה לשאלה הגדולה של "החיים, היקום, וכל השאר" (תשובה זו, כידוע, כבר ניתנה...), אלא להעלות שאלות ספציפיות יותר לדיון, ולהציג כיווני מחשבה שונים שנידונו בהקשרן בספרות המד"ב והפנטסיה.
מטרות הקורס:
הרחבת יכולת החשיבה הפוליטית והיכרות עם כלים נראטיביים מז'אנר המד"ב. כמו כן, חשיבה על סוגיות יסוד פוליטיות באמצעות כלים אלגוריים וספרותיים.
תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
להגיש עבודה סמינריונית שתהיה מנוסחת בצורת מאמר אנליטי על סוגייה שממחישה זיקה בין נושא פוליטי לבין פרשנות מדב"ית, או כתיבת סיפור/תסריט מד"ב מיודע במחשבה ובמושגים פוליטיים.
