תאור כללי של הקורס:
הקורס יעניק מבט היסטורי, עדכני, ותיאורטי על היחסים הבינלאומיים במזרח התיכון. ננתח את מערכת האילוצים והאינטרסים שמניעים את השחקנים המקומיים, האזוריים והבינלאומיים שלקחו חלק בעיצוב הסביבה האסטרטגית במזרח התיכון בעשרות השנים האחרונות: החל באימפריות האירופיות ששרטטו את מפת האזור בתום מלחמת העולם הראשונה, דרך ארה״ב וברה״מ בתקופת המלחמה הקרה, עבור בארצות הליבה של העולם הערבי, וכלה בישראל, טורקיה ואיראן. הקורס ינתח את מאבקי העבר וההווה בין מוקדי הכוח השונים במזרח התיכון על עיצוב הסדר האזורי והאוריינטציה הפוליטית של המזרח התיכון, כמו גם את הבריתות הפוליטיות והצבאיות שנוצרו בעטיים של מאבקי כוחות אלה. כן נעמוד על השינויים המתחוללים ביחסי הכוחות האזוריים, נבדוק כיצד מתמודדת הדיסציפלינה של יחב״ל עם תופעת האביב הערבי, ונדון בשאלה כיצד עשויה להיראות חלוקת העוצמה האזורית, ואולי אף המפה המדינית של המזרח התיכון, אם וכאשר ישקע לבסוף האבק על הטלטלה המתחוללת בשנים האחרונות במרחב הערבי.

להדגים כיצד תיאוריות הנהוגות ביחב״ל באו לידי ביטוי באזור

להשוות בין המניעים ההיסטוריים והעכשוויים של השחקנים המרכזיים המעצבים את המזרח התיכון
