תאור כללי של הקורס:
הקורס עוסק במלחמה ושלום בין המעצמות הגדולות במערכת הבינלאומית, והוא מחולק לשלושה חלקים. בחלקו הראשון של הקורס נסקור את הגישות והתיאוריות המרכזיות לחקר מלחמה ושלום ביחב"ל. בחלקו השני ניישם גישות אלה לשורה של מקרים היסטוריים של מלחמה ושלום בין המעצמות במאתיים השנה האחרונות. בחלק השלישי נדון בעתיד המלחמה והשלום בעידן הנוכחי ובעתיד.

מטרות הקורס:
המטרות הלימודיות בקורס הן פיתוח הבנה מעמיקה וביקורתית של הגישות והתיאוריות השונות לחקר המלחמה והשלום ביחסים הבינלאומיים, וכן פיתוח היכולת להשתמש בהן לניתוח תהליכים ואירועים הן היסטוריים והן שוטפים בעולם בתחומי המלחמה והשלום.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
להכיר היטב את הגישות והתיאוריות המרכזיות בתחום לימודי המלחמה והשלום ביחב"ל.
להשוות בין הגישות והתיאוריות השונות לניתוח מלחמה ושלום.
לבקר את הגישות והתיאוריות השונות לאור תיאוריות מתחרות ולאור מידת התאמתן למקרים אמפיריים בעבר ובהווה.
ליישם את הגישות והתיאוריות השונות להבנת תהליכים ואירועים היסטוריים ועכשוויים בתחומי המלחמה והשלום.
להעריך את מידת הצלחתן היחסית של הגישות והתיאוריות המתחרות בהסבר תהליכים ואירועים בעולם בתחומי המלחמה והשלום בהיסטוריה ובעידן הנוכחי.
