Course/Module description:
The main topics in the course will be 1) use of employer-employee administrative data in labor economics 2) building and estimation of structural models

Course/Module aims:
The purpose of the course is to provide students with the practical knowledge of finding a research question in labor economics that can be answered using data, and understanding how structural models can help us for this purpose.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1) Get to know articles in labor economics from the forefront of research that make use of administrative employer-employee data

2) Know how to build a structural model that can answer the research question and how to estimate it using the data

3) Write an empirical article in labor economics using the above tools

Topic 1: What is it and why is structural assessment needed?

Topic 2: Building, identification, and estimation of structural models

Topic 3: Wage gaps and the AKM model

Topic 4: Non-wage amenities

Topic 5: Social relationships
