Course/Module description:
This course presents the basic theoretical frameworks used in international trade, and confronts them to empirical facts. It also opens discussions over the topics of globalization, protectionism, development, and inequalities.

Course/Module aims:
The purpose of this course is to be familiar with the basic trade models used in the international trade literature, and to apply their predictions to relevant policy issues.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Mastering the different basic trade models (Ricardian, Hecksher-Ohlin, etc.) and their predictions. Being able to have an informed debate about international trade and trade policies.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: The teaching and evaluation language is English.

Chapter 1: Globalization - History, Facts and Ideas; Chapter 2: Comparative Advantages; Chapter 3: Trade, Resource Endowments and Wages; Chapter 4: Standard Trade Model; Chapters 5&6: Trade and Firms -- Increasing Returns, Imperfect Competition and Productivity; Chapter 7: Trade Policies; Chapter 8: Trade and Development; Chapter 9: Globalization and Inequalities
