Course/Module description:
This course focuses on central controversies regarding the interface of the political and economic spheres. Within it we will discuss central subjects in the field such as: capitalism, free market, market failures, economic growth, welfare state, globalization, macroeconomic policy, inequality, economic crisis, etc. The discussion will be around the axis of arguments in favor and against state intervention in the market. Along the course we will read mainly contemporary texts in the field.
Course/Module aims:
Providing basic knowledge regarding central political-economic concepts and dilemmas. Learning to discern between the descriptive and normative aspects of political economy.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To characterize and define the main concepts and phenomena discussed in the class and in the reading materials. To develop right-wing and left-wing argumentations regarding the basic dilemmas in political economy.

9) Globalization and state economy

11) Ideologies and political economy
12) Economic depression and policy controversy
13) Political economy in Israel
