Course/Module description:
The seminar will deal with classic issues and issues on the agenda in electoral politics. The seminar is organized around general topics, but will be discussed in the context of specific countries and geographic points of interest and times.
The topics to be discussed include: representation, status and voting, gender and voting, electoral systems, party systems, elections in ethnically divided societies, extreme right-wing parties and xenophobia.

The seminar will be based on classroom discussion. Gradually, we will built the research work of the students. Towards the end of the first semester and during the second semester I will hold meetings with the students in the course in which the research proposals will be discussed, and we will then deal with specific challenges for the various studies and discuss students seminars.
