Course/Module description:
The course will cover a selection of topics in entrepreneurial finance. The goal is to to provide you with a deep understanding of the financing of entrepreneurial firms, building on the ‘Introduction to the venture capital world’ course.

The course is analytical and aims to teach you how to apply economics, finance, and corporate strategy concepts to solve practical business situation

80%

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Class discussions and case studies. The course has an analytical nature more than an institutional or descriptive one. It will also provide some practical exercises, both through case discussion and through exercises.

Course/Module Content:
- How to understand entrepreneurial finance.
- How to understand investors: the FUEL framework.
- How to evaluate business opportunities.
- How investors contribute to creating value.
- Understanding the economics of term sheets.
- Understanding staged financing.



Required Reading:
The textbook for the course is: “Fundamental of Entrepreneurial Finance” by Marco Da Rin and Thomas Hellmann (OUP, forthcoming). Draft chapters are available on Moodle.
