Course/Module description:
The 9-day tour will take place in the three Baltic countries - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
During the tour we will visit historical sites from different periods and focus on the issue of commemorating the various imperial legacies in the modern nation state. We will address the following questions - which of the various imperial pasts are preserved (or not preserved) and how are they presented in the modern national narrative, what can the historical sites tell about the diverse past (imperial and non-imperial) of each of these countries, what are the components of the modern national historical narrative In each of these countries (differences and similarities in approaches), how is the multinational history of the region presented (with special emphasis on the Jewish sites).
