תאור כללי של הקורס:
קורס זה מבקש להכיר לסטודנטים את הספרות הענפה הנוגעת לעליית הפופוליזם באירופה ובעולם, תוך התמקדות במניעים, דפוסי הפעולה והשפעות הפופוליזם הטרנס-לאומי בר-זמננו.

מאבקי הלגיטימיות בין "העם" ל"האליטות" הם מרכיב מרכזי בתופעת הפופוליזם – החיפוש המתמיד של מנהיגים פופוליסטים אחר לגיטימציה ממלא תפקיד חשוב בויתר בתהליכים חברתיים, פוליטיים ומוסדיים.

במהלך הקורס נעמיק ביסודות התיאורטיים של תופעת הפופוליזם, נתייחס לשורשים ההיסטוריים של המחקר ומושגים המתחרים, ונשווה לדינמיקות פוליטיות אחרות המתפתחות כיום במערב ומזרח אירופה, אמריקה הלטינית וצפון אמריקה, דרום-מזרח אסיה והמזרח התיכון.

שילוב זה של נקודות מבט שונות הוא חיוני לשיפור הבנתנו של הממד הבין-לאומי של הפופוליזם העכשווי והאתגרים שהוא מציב בפני החברות הדמוקרטיות, האינטגרציה האזורית באירופה ומחוצה לה, והסדר הבינלאומי בכלל.

מטרות הקורס:

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
הקורס מחולק לארבעה חלקים. בחלק הראשון, נציג את הרציונל לשילוב התיאורטי של פופוליזם, פוליטיקה השוואתית, יחסים בינלאומיים ולימודי אירופה. בחלק השני, נסביר את החיפוש הפופוליסטי אחר לגיטימציה באירופה ומחוצה לה, תוך התמקדות בתפקיד העמדות, המנהיגות והמאבקים בתופעת הפופוליזם הגלובלי. בחלק השלישי, נעסוק ב"הופעה הפופוליסטית" בזירה הבינלאומית, כולל ניתוח של דפוסי הפעולה של ממשלות פופוליסטיות וההשלכות מבחינת מדיניות חוץ, שיתוף פעולה אזורי, סחר עולמי, ביטחון וזכויות אדם. לקראת סוף הקורס נדון כיצד פופוליזם משפיע על העקרונות הדמוקרטיים והליברליים של הסדר הבינלאומי בכלל והסדר האזורי האירופי בפרט, תוך דיון באפשרויות השונות למחקר עתידי.

שיטת ההוראה בקורס: דרישות הקורס, מטלות והרכב הציון
על הסטודנטים להשתתף בצורה פעילה במהלך הקורס ולהגיש עבודה מסכמת קצרה הנוגעת בנושאים שנלמדו.
הציון יורכב בצורה הבאה: 20% השתתפות פעילה, 20% הצעת מחקר, 60% עבודה סופית.
