תאור כללי של הקורס:
הקורס יעסוק בהיסטוריה של למעלה מ- 700 שנה אודות המפגש בין אירופה לאפריקה. נתמקד בהשפעות הכלכליות, החברתיות והפוליטיות של המפגש בין שתי היבשות וכיצד היחסים בניהן השתנו לאורך השנים. נתמקד במספר שאלות עיקריות : כיצד השתנו יחסי אירופה-אפריקה לאורך היסטוריה תוך בחינה מקרוב את הנרטיבים של חוקרים אירופאים ואפריקאים. כמו כן נשאל כיצד הנרטיב שנמצא בהתהוות משמעותי במאה ה-21?

מטרות הקורס:
כיצד שימוש בדיסציפלינות שונות כגון היסטוריה, אנתרופולוגיה,אמנות ופילוסופיה יכולות לשמש ככלים מחקריים להבנת היחסים האמביוולנטיים של אירופה ואפריקה בעבר, הווה ועתיד .

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
לרכוש ידע היסטורי על אירופה ואפריקה, לנתח שינויים היסטוריים, לקרוא חומרים מגוונים על אירופה ואפריקה מהמאה ה13 עד ימינו ולהבין את ההשפעות הכלכליות, הפוליטיות והחברתיות בימינו.

שיטת ההוראה בקורס: הרצאות, דיונים בכיתה על החומר ועל החומר ביבליוגראפי, הקרנת סרט.

שיטת העבודה היא כרונולוגית, בכל תקופה נלמד על ההיסטוריה הפוליטית, כלכלית וחברתית של אירופה ואפריקה והמפגש בניהן. הנושאים המרכזיים הם: תקופה פרה קולוניאלית, סחר העבדים הטרנס אטלנטי, קולוניאליזם, גזענות, עצמאות, הגירה דמוקרטיזציה ופיתוח.

מידע נוסף / הערות:
נוכחות בשיעורים והשתתפות חובה (10%). קריאה שוטפת של הביבליוגרפיה חובה. יש להגיש עבודת בית מסכמת בסוף הסמסטר (90%) - לבחור שאלה אחת מתוך שלוש שאלות. עבודת הבית תחולק בשיעור האחרון ויש להגיש אותה עד 3 שבועות לאחר סוף סמסטר. יש גם אפשרות להגיש עבודת סמינר.
