Course/Module description:
The course offers an introduction to social psychology, the scientific study of human social influence and interaction. We will explore the various ways people think about, affect, and relate to one another through the interface between psychology and sociology, and while applying knowledge to the sociological endeavor.
Course/Module aims:
The course will cover topics such as social self-concept, social judgment, attitudes, persuasion, conformity, aggression, helping behavior, prejudice, groups and conflicts.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- identify social psychology central questions;
- describe the contributions of various theories to the understanding of human behavior;
- develop critical understanding of empirical studies in the field;
- apply concepts, theories, and findings to understanding and solving of everyday social issues.
