Course/Module description:
The goal of the course is to teach the basis of quantitative research through practice of research planning, data collection and data analysis.

It is our hope that this course will bring you closer to quantitative research and even help you enjoy it!

We will learn about different types of quantitative research, focus on the relations between theory, operationalization and measurement. We will learn about validity, reliability, causality and sampling methods.

We will write a research questionnaire, learn how to code the variables and create a data file, and conduct basic analyses, including regression.

We will also learn about the usage of existing data, different experimental designs and network analysis. We will end the course with discussing ethics in research.

Course/Module aims:
To develop tools for understanding and conducting different types of quantitative research.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Reading and understanding quantitative research;
Understanding how to plan quantitative research, design a research question and hypotheses;
Conduct data collection and design an SPSS file for data analyses and hypotheses testing.

Intro to philosophy of science; theory and concepts; research questions and hypotheses, internal and external validity, reliability, questionnaires, experimental design, network analysis and research ethics.
